Are you sitting comfortably? Then let's begin...

Welcome to my blog!

For a while now, I have been wanting to start a blog on which I could share reviews of film, literature and theatre...

A bit about film...
I watch A LOT of films and ever since I was little, one of my favourite things to do is to sit down and watch a good movie. I probably go to the cinema about once a month but I go more often in the holidays. I watch most movies at home, sometimes on the couch but usually cuddled up in bed with a cup of tea! Almost every friday and saturday night, I watch a dvd on my laptop in bed before I go to sleep. Watching a film transports me to new worlds, from American high schools to fairytale kingdoms, from a 1920s flapper party to a futuristic city in 2019. I love that movies are able to make me laugh, cry and gasp in just a couple of hours. Films enable me to feel emotions or witness moments that I can't experience in real life.

A bit about literature...
Books are similar to films in that they let you be part of a world that is completely separate to your own. However, literature creates this world in the never ending realm of your imagination. I am a strong believer in reading the book before seeing the film. But I'm only human, and I don't always practice what I peach. I just love reading a book for the first time and imagining the faces of characters in my own way, in my own mind. Seeing the film first can spoil your interpretation of a novel, because you already have the film's image of the characters in your head before you start reading. I believe that the power of one's imagination when reading a book is invaluable, because novels allow us to picture characters, stories and worlds in a way that films cannot capture.

A bit about theatre...
The theatre is a BIG part of my life. Ever since I was little I have loved performing as an actress as well as a dancer. I am in my fourth year of studying Drama as a High School subject and every year I love it more and more. Seeing regular theatre productions is an important factor of my life because it not only fuels my passion for acting, but it also reminds me why I love drama so much. I've always found it sad that a lot of people of my generation never go to theatre other than for a school excursion. I am so grateful that my parents have raised me to appreciate theatre by regularly taking me to productions. I usually see some sort of production - whether it be theatrical or musical - every 1-2 months. When I see a performance, I feel as if I am part of the action and involved with the characters, which is something that films don't often achieve for me.

Please let me know if there are any particular films or books you would like me to review or just give my opinion on! I promise to give my HONEST opinion, whether it be good or bad. Theatre is a bit tricky for me to take requests because the play or musical you want me to review mightn't be showing where I live. However, I will write a list of all the major musicals and plays that I have seen over the years and you can let me know if you'd like me to give my review on any of them :)

 Now! Let the reviewing begin....
